Pinehurst's full-time Transportation Department offers complimentary shuttle service within the resort property. The department can also arrange shuttle vans and individual automobile service to and from nearby airports at special rates (click for pricing) for Pinehurst guests. You may contact one of our Transportation specialists directly by dialing 910.235.8410.  Airport shuttle service should be arranged no later than 48 hours before flight time to take advantage of reduced rates.

Pinehurst is situated at 80 Carolina Vista Drive in the Village of Pinehurst, North Carolina. We are centrally located in the southern Sandhills of North Carolina and are accessible by automobile, air or rail.

Temporary Alternate Driving Directions to
Pinehurst Resort

On Tuesday, August 26th, the North Carolina Department of Transportation is expected to begin construction on a project at the intersection of Carolina Vista and N.C. Highway 2, which connects Pinehurst’s Carolina Hotel with our Resort Clubhouse.  The NCDOT has determined the need for a round-about based on high levels of traffic and resulting safety at this intersection, and predicts the project to take approximately 6 to 8 weeks to complete.

A couple of suggestions during this time:

--Do not use online mapping (google maps, mapquest)
--Add 5-10 minutes to your travel time thoughout the resort

By Car

Directions from Raleigh, taking U.S. Rt. 1 South

  • Follow U.S. #1 south from Raleigh
  • Take U.S. #1 South to Midland Road (Hwy 2 West) in Southern Pines
  • Turn right onto Midland Road and follow to traffic circle
  • When you enter the circle, take the second exit, which is Hwy 211
  • Follow Hwy 211 to your fifth traffic light and turn left onto Hwy 5 south
  • Follow Hwy 5 south for 3/4 of a mile to Ritter Road
  • Turn left on Ritter Road
  • Follow Ritter Road for 1 block and turn into the gates of the Carolina
  • The Carolina hotel will be right in front of you

Directions from South Carolina, taking I-95 North

  • Follow Interstate 95 North to the NC/SC border and to Hwy. 501 north
  • At the border take Hwy 501 north to Laurinburg, NC
  • At Laurinburg, take Hwy 15-501 north to Aberdeen, NC
  • Take a right onto Hwy 1 north/Hwy 15-501 and follow until Hwy 15-501 again turns left
  • Follow Hwy 15-501 north to the traffic circle in Pinehurst
  • When you enter the circle, take the third exit, which is Hwy 211
  • Follow Hwy 211 to your fifth traffic light and turn left onto Hwy 5 south
  • Follow Hwy 5 south for 3/4 of a mile to Ritter Road
  • Turn left on Ritter Road
  • Follow Ritter Road for 1 block and turn into the gates of the Carolina
  • The Carolina hotel will be right in front of you

Directions from Virginia, taking I-95 South

  • Follow interstate 95 south to Rocky Mount NC and exit onto N.C. 64 west (Do NOT take U.S. 64 outside of Richmond)
  • Take Hwy. 64 west to Raleigh and exit onto Interstate 440/Hwy. 64
  • Follow I-440/Hwy. 64 and exit onto U.S. #1 south to Sanford, NC and follow for approximately 40 miles
  • Exit onto Hwy. 15-501 south to "Pinehurst/Carthage"
  • Proceed for 21 miles to the traffic circle in Pinehurst, and enter traffic circle from left lane
  • Take the first exit off which is Hwy 211
  • Follow Hwy 211 to your fifth traffic light and turn left onto Hwy 5 south
  • Follow Hwy 5 south for 3/4 of a mile to Ritter Road
  • Turn left on Ritter Road
  • Follow Ritter Road for 1 block and turn into the gates of the Carolina
  • The Carolina hotel will be right in front of you

Directions from Charlotte, taking I-85 North

  • Follow Interstate 85 north to Charlotte
  • Follow to Exit 42 (Hwy 49 north)
  • Follow Hwy 49 north (20 miles) to Mt. Pleasant, NC
  • Exit onto Hwy 73 east. Follow for 16 miles
  • Turn left onto Hwy 24/27 east to Biscoe, NC
  • Exit onto Hwy 220 south for 5 miles to Candor, NC
  • Exit onto Hwy 211 east to Pinehurst
  • The second Light, turn right onto Hwy 5 south
  • Follow Hwy 5 south for 3/4 of a mile to Ritter Road
  • Turn left on Ritter Road
  • Follow Ritter Road for 1 block and turn into the gates of the Carolina
  • The Carolina will be right in front of you

Directions from Chapel Hill, taking I-85 South

  • Follow I-85 south to Chapel Hill
  • From Chapel Hill take Hwy. 15-501 to the traffic circle in Pinehurst
  • When you enter the circle, take the first exit, which is Hwy 211
  • Follow Hwy 211 to your fifth traffic light and turn left onto Hwy 5 south
  • Follow Hwy 5 south for 3/4 of a mile to Ritter Road
  • Turn left on Ritter Road
  • Follow Ritter Road for 1 block and turn into the gates of the Carolina
  • The Carolina hotel will be right in front of you

Directions from Greensboro, taking I-40 East

  • Follow Interstate 40 east to Greensboro.
  • When you arrive in Greensboro, exit onto Hwy. 220 south.
  • Exit Hwy. 220 at the Pinehurst/Candor exit. (Hwy. 211)
  • Turn left and follow Hwy. 211 east (20 miles) to the second traffic light in Pinehurst.
  • At the light turn right onto Hwy. 5 south.
  • Follow Hwy. 5 south for 3/4 of a mile to Ritter Road.
  • Turn left on Ritter Road.
  • Follow Ritter Road for 1 block and turn left into the gates of the Carolina.
  • The Carolina will be right in front of you.

Directions from Columbia SC, taking I-77

  • Take Interstate 77 north to highway 74 east
  • Continue on 74 east through Charlotte
  • 74 will take you into a town call Rockingham
  • In Rockingham take highway 1 north
  • Continue on highway 1 north until you arrive into Aberdeen
  • Take a Left onto Hwy 15-501
  • Follow Hwy 15-501 north to the traffic circle in Pinehurst
  • When you enter the circle, take the third exit, which is Hwy 211
  • Follow Hwy 211 to your fifth traffic light and turn left onto Hwy 5 south
  • Follow Hwy 5 south for 3/4 of a mile to Ritter Road
  • Turn left on Ritter Road
  • Follow Ritter Road for 1 block and turn into the gates of the Carolina
  • The Carolina hotel will be right in front of you
